ZOooom

Well, the year flew by like a breezeeeeeeeee... Everything seems to be moving too fast for me, and at the moment my heart is pounding really fast, because 1.Had way too much coffee for today (three cups haha- I need it though) 2. Anxious about the end of the term. Can't wait till we go away this coming weekend...

Sorry, back to Vespa. This project took me a long time to conceive and gather photos (found them all from www.vespa.com). I know that there are lots of improvements that can and will need to take place, because there are some issues with navigation for sure. I had fun doing this project though, and I was actuallly able to do what I want to do (be creative) haha. Not that I cannot use my creativitiy, but this is an opportunity for me to just do what my mind tells me to do instead of being constrained by all the "rules" for navigation, content, etc; . Nevertheless a website wouldn't work without those things anyway, so... here comes the dilemma haahah.

Can't wait for class tomorrow =)

Some changes?........

tired as *$@#$,.... but had this in mind, so thought I would try it out.... I think it kinda looks better- but now it resembles more like a school *lol*. Posted by Hello

Things that I need to work on.... Posted by Hello

The original images..........

This is the old one *lol* the original idea Posted by Hello

This would be cool to share with the rest of the world - progress. *lol* originally the idea was to just get the message out thoroughly... However I knew that even though I have 18 images here-- some of them just didn't work. So... I had to make some sacrifices - Aesthetically some of them didn't work with only one icon (those image thingys), so I had to add something to it- because what does a 'music note' for example mean to one person? Does it mean that I hate it or love or just neutral? - like what does it bloody mean? haha.
So the image of the cat and the heart was pretty good I thought- most of my friends were able to see what that represented... But I knew that if I did it for some of them it would look rather 'ugly'.... At this point I had a choice between two things: looking nice or having a piece of work that actually conveys the message.

I chose the second option.

In my mind I knew that there were tons of people who did this in the past, however I chose to not use text in my self-portrait because I wanted to see just how powerful icons are without text... Because icons - unlike text (language) are universal (kinda... haha- that's another story altogether)

Anyway, so I chose the longer route I suppose- because finding the right icons were difficult and trying NOT to convey the wrong idea was even harder. *LOL*

to be continued... Getting sleepy now haha.

Notes from "Self-Portrait" Presentation

Presentation

- define ourselves by our roles

- defining the 'self'

- communicating the message VS aesthetic

- organize concept time VS execution time

- the cross - has too strong of a meaning - replace it with?_______

- Virgo sign is not very clear to some colleagues

Comments:

There were a diversity of works created in the class today... And many of which were quite intersting. I wanted to really speak up in class, but hesitated to because I was afraid that people won't accept my criticism.

I'm a true believer that constructive criticism is like putting money in my pocket. Anytime there is area for opportunity is an area of growth. It's time to let go of what you've done and try to let others see what might be lacking from the finished product. I mean, isn't that what the rest of the class is there to do? I remember my first year at UTSC, *sigh* the times when I cried when the profs critisized me... After my freshman year, I finally understood the VALUE of their words. How their words transformed my way of thinking, and improved my skills and taught me how to make 'better' art, instead of art that just ~ doesn't really work.

First Entry

My thoughts on Centennial College:
Well. It's definitely a total different world than UTSC. I loop the MACs.. hheheeh... So much fun to be able to work on them everyday. I decided to open up a new BLOG because maybe it will be more appropriate to keep things organized this way. *lol* haha, there are secrets that I don't want to tell the profs.. . . . haha.

My Goals:

  • Learn the theory behind what makes for a good WORKING design
  • Learn the tools (i.e// Dreamweaver, Flash, etc)
  • Improve on HTML and other languages (i.e// Java, CSS, etc)
